.....PERMesan! (geddit?!)
This picture was taken shortly after finishing an epic day of breaking down on motorbikes, 17km of trail running through some beautiful foothills around a lake, swimming in said lake, delivering really bad (so bad they're good?) puns and jokes, drinking cold delicious beers, eating my favourite tofu and garlic-y green veg ('morning glory' over here, I kid you not), and riding in and out of the city in the hot-as-hell sunshine.
So, yes, you read that correctly! Got a well overdue trail run in, thanks to a new running friend with wheels who kindly offered to give me a lift out of the city to such a beautiful spot. So beautiful, and SO so hot and humid. This was a tough run. Tough, but so very worth it. I was just getting over a cold, which I suppose added to how tough it was, but oh wow, that humidity is a killer! And the scorching hot sunshine and heat. Let's just say that jumping into the lake (when we were nearly done, only a couple of kms left, so pretty much at the end) felt oh so good. Amazingly good. As did the first cold beer sitting back at the restaurant we had left the bike at. Oh how I've missed a good trail run! Took Glenrock for granted a bit having it practically on my doorstep in Newy. Here are some pictures from my Saturday run, and a couple of touristy quintessential there-are-no-rules-so-let's-stop-on-the-bridge-and-take-happy-snaps shots:
The rest of the week saw me get most of my usual runs and strength training workouts in, and I even went to a well overdue speed training session with a local running group too! This was awesome, but again, so humid and sweaty and intense (like camping, lol). It featured various drills such as high-knees and side-steps, and some faster paced/sprinting intervals. I will definitely go back this week. I feel my training has been lacking any kind of me pushing myself, and I've mainly just been cruising around casually. But now that regular speed training and trail running are now a part of my life again? Oh happy days :)
It is now Day 6 of my Jump Into June 30 Day Challenge that I launched on June 1st, and so far so good! As stated previously, I am doing the challenge too, right along with everyone who has signed up, and I'm happy with my progress so far. Nothing like a bit of friendly support and motivation to keep you on track - and I have definitely needed a kick to get back on track and stop partying so much. Jumping Into June has definitely helped so far! Watch this space....
Now I better go and finalise a few things prior to our last fermentation workshop that's taking place today. If you're in Hanoi and fancy coming along to learn all about fermented food/drinks and their amazing health benefits, along with how to make ginger beer and kombucha tea (with scoby samples available!) then please send me a message, there are still a few spaces left for today's session: [email protected]
Have a wonderful week one and all, and please please stay safe out there, especially those back in Oz at the moment. Sending you all my love and best wishes and know I am thinking of you xxx
