Films about running??

Just about to head to the track for some tempo repeats (3x 1600 m tempo with 400 m job between) plus the usual 2km warm up and 2km cool down. It is cold and I am tired. Feeling particularly UNmotivated this morning. But, it's on my training schedule yes? So, if I don't just fucken do it, then I'll just have to try and fit it in either later today or tomorrow morning instead (when SLEEPING IN is on the schedule instead, haha...). So, may as well suck it up and DO IT hey. (Never been great at afternoon training, or evening training, or anytime after 7am training to be honest, unless it is strength or yoga.)

Shouldn't be so tired, as had a very early night last night. Put on a movie at about half 7. So, was probably well asleep by approximately 7:41. Haha, crazy Tuesday night yes?

As per this post's title, I am thinking about films/movies about running, i.e. the names of some films that would be uber-motivational. All I can think of is 'Run Fatboy Run'. So, if anyone out there is reading this and has any good suggestions re: running movies, PLEASE let me know! Think I know what I'll be doing after classes this arvo. Thanks!

So, yes it is cold again this morning, but I WILL just fucken do it, no worries. At least it's not THIS cold yet:

Hi! Just saw your comment on my blog and wanted to pop over and say hi :) I think it is so cool that you are an expat living in China. What made you decide to make the move? I have recently been thinking about "early retirement" in other countries and would love to hear about your experience!

As for running movies/films here are some I really like:

Running the Sahara (avail. on Netflix streaming)
Spirit of the Marathon (avail. on Netflix streaming)
Usain Bolt documentary (avail. on Netflix streaming)
Unbreakable: The Western States 100

Hi Kristina! Thanks for your response. That's great - I will definitely be looking up those movie titles, thanks! (spend a fair bit of our 'downtime'/evenings here watching docos/movies).

And to answer your question re: moving/becoming an expat - I can highly recommend coming to China! It's been great so far. Made the move as my husband and I wanted to keep travelling/visiting new places and not be working most of the week and missing out on life/time. So, we did some teaching English as a foreign language courses (TEFL/TESOL), applied for some positions, got a great job at a public middle school and packed our suitcases and said goodbye to Australia (for now). Now, we 'work' (it doesn't really feel like work though) about 10-12 hours a week and spend the rest of the time cycling around exploring, eating amazingly tasty Chinese food (like nothing we had tried in UK and Australia), and going on weekend trips and holidays to other parts of China when we can. If you're interested in the teaching part of things I can send you the links for the courses we did? There are heaps of jobs available here in China, seems like they're crying out for native English speakers.
Oh, and I had made the move previously from England to Australia, again for a lifestyle change/to see new places, so maybe that helped with emigrating once more? Who knows, I LOVE to travel though, so if you do too, you won't be disappointed.

Oops, look at me rambling on now... Hey, two more days til your race yes? So exciting! Wishing you all the best, and yay to getting that medal Kristina. :) xx

THANK YOU so much for all of the info.

That is exactly the reason that Adam and I are thinking about going expat. We want to get out of the rat race and experience new places -- really experience them rather than just visiting for a week.

I've recently looked up some info on TEFL/TESOL courses. Were you a teacher prior to taking the courses? Did you find your jobs through an agency or on your own?

Thanks :)

Oh hey, it's my pleasure, seriously (love rambling/writing!). Always happy to share my experiences / accounts.

I wasn't a teacher before, I was (still am?) a nutritionist / food scientist, and my husband worked in elevator construction (a liftie) and was also a swimming teacher. So, teaching English was new to both of us. But it has been great! Wasn't sure before we came over (as I have a very low/mumbley voice and hate public speaking, and even am, yes, a bit SHY sometimes) but teaching a class of 50 or so 14 and 15 year old kids has been, yes, FUN most of the time!

Doesn't feel like work, and I try to be an enthusiastic/creative teacher (try to) so I hope the students enjoy it too. :) Glad we did the TEFL course beforehand though as that enabled us to get a job at a government run public school, where although the pay isn't great, the working conditions are really good.

We got the job through an agency, but another job (that we later turned down for this better one) was got directly through the school. We are just about to start applying again (hoping to go even further 'out there' and head up to beautiful Inner Mongolia) so will be contacting the same agency plus a few others we will look for. I'll send you the links / email addresses if you like?

How about you? Your candles look awesome! Have you been doing that for long? Do you ship to China? :P :)

Hi Lou,

I would love the links! Would you email me them at runkristina@gmail.com so I don't miss them in the comments?

I have taught before -- I actually taught Public Speaking at the university I graduated from for a semester. I think I would enjoy teaching, although I'm nervous about the language barrier. Do your students have some background in English already?

Thanks for the compliment on my candles ;) Unfortunately no shipping outside the US right now!

Thanks so much, Kristina
